Notes from Ms. Rose
I tried to transcribe the names of the official that signed the document, in about 80% of documents this was possible. I tried to transcribe the names of the all people mentioned in the document. When I couldn’t read a whole or part of the name I put in a “?” Slaves, criados, and sirvientes are given the last name of the person they are traveling with and ending the last name with “?” Some first names were abbreviated in the record (for example Ma or Anto) I chose to spell them out (Maria and Antonio) in the transcription. Some last names were abbreviated in the record, I wrote them as Men(z) instead of Menz in the transcription. The amount of information in each record varies greatly. Most records are for individuals, a small number are records of families.

Ms. Rose has a wonderful blog where she writes about her ancestors. Her articles are extremely well-researched and documented. Therefore, I suggest you visit her site and read her articles. She is actually related to Maria Saldana O’Farrell. I came across pictures of her funeral and shared them with her. Some she never saw.
