About Hijos de Coamo Puerto Rico

My website was created from a deep passion for Puerto Rican genealogy and a desire to research and preserve my own family history. Through my work in Puerto Rican genealogy, I have developed a platform dedicated to helping others discover their roots, understand their ancestry, and connect with their past.

This website, Hijos de Coamo Puerto Rico, contains Catholic Church records from 1645 through 1969, including baptisms, confirmations, parish censuses, marriages, deaths, and indexes. These records, created by parishes across Puerto Rico, are essential for anyone researching Puerto Rican genealogy.

The site is designed to assist both novice and advanced researchers in locating ancestral records and understanding their family history. It also includes transcriptions contributed by volunteers, as well as my own personal research on individuals and families from Puerto Rico.

Why I Created Hijos de Coamo Puerto Rico

Hijos de Coamo Puerto Rico began as a personal mission to preserve my own family’s history. While researching my ancestors, I discovered that many Puerto Rican records were difficult to locate, poorly indexed, or largely unknown to researchers. What started as a personal project evolved into one of the largest independent collections of Puerto Rican genealogy resources available online.

I specialize in Puerto Rican genealogy, helping individuals trace their family history through historical records, church documents, and archival research. With over 35 years of experience in Puerto Rican genealogy research, I assist clients in uncovering their ancestry and building accurate, documented family trees.

Why You Can Trust My Research

Genealogy is more than building family trees—it requires careful analysis, documentation, and evidence. Every conclusion I publish is based on historical records rather than assumptions.

My research combines original Catholic Church registers, Puerto Rico Civil Registration records, censuses, military records, immigration documents, notarial records, Spanish archives, and modern DNA analysis whenever appropriate.

Whenever possible, I work directly from original documents instead of copied family trees. My goal is to preserve Puerto Rico’s history accurately while helping others discover their ancestors through reliable, documented research.

With more than 35 years of experience researching Puerto Rican genealogy, I continue to expand this website by creating original indexes, transcriptions, historical articles, and research guides that are freely available to the public.

Before Contacting Me

When you contact me, please provide details about a specific person. For example, if you are asking about a relative or need help researching one, please give enough information—for example, the full name of your ancestor. In addition, the year range, their hometown, parents’ and grandparents’ names. The more information you provide, the better. I have extensive research skills and help people find ancestors when they have no idea where they may originate. It comes naturally to me; I’ve successfully broken brick walls for many.

Whether you are beginning your family history, searching for a long-lost ancestor, documenting your Puerto Rican lineage, or exploring Spanish citizenship through genealogy, I would be honored to help guide your research. Every family has a story waiting to be discovered, and together we can preserve it for future generations.

Dedication to my Parents

Our parents are the unsung heroes behind every life and every accomplishment. Thank you for giving me life. I honor you and all of our ancestors, whose legacy continues through us.

A special dedication to my father, who passed away on April 6, 2022. Genealogy—and especially my journey through Puerto Rican genealogy—brought us closer together, and for that, I will always be grateful.

Through my work in Puerto Rican genealogy, I have come to understand even more deeply how connected we truly are—not only to the past, but to one another. To my siblings, adopted siblings, step-parents, extended family, and friends: a part of me lives within you, just as a part of you lives within me.

We all carry the same ancestral blood, and we are who we are because of those who came before us.

I would not be the man I am today without each and every one of you. Thank you for supporting me on this journey—for listening, for sharing in my discoveries, and for spending countless hours as I explained what a third cousin six times removed is.
