About Me – Puerto Rican Genealogy Research

My website was created from a deep passion for Puerto Rican genealogy and a desire to research and preserve my own family history. Through my work in Puerto Rican genealogy, I have developed a platform dedicated to helping others discover their roots, understand their ancestry, and connect with their past.

This website, Hijos de Coamo Puerto Rico, contains Catholic Church records from 1645 through 1969, including baptisms, confirmations, parish censuses, marriages, deaths, and indexes. These records, created by parishes across Puerto Rico, are essential for anyone researching Puerto Rican genealogy.

The site is designed to assist both novice and advanced researchers in locating ancestral records and understanding their family history. It also includes transcriptions contributed by volunteers, as well as my own personal research on individuals and families from Puerto Rico.

Why I Research My Ancestors

I specialize in Puerto Rican genealogy, helping individuals trace their family history through historical records, church documents, and archival research. With over 35 years of experience in Puerto Rican genealogy research, I assist clients in uncovering their ancestry and building accurate, documented family trees.

My work focuses on locating and analyzing:

  • Civil records
  • Catholic parish registers
  • Census data
  • Notarial documents

Through detailed research and careful documentation, I help individuals reconnect with their roots and better understand their family’s historical journey.

I currently serve on the board of the Sociedad Puertorriqueña de Genealogía as Director of Communications and editor of the monthly newsletter. My involvement in the genealogical community allows me to remain actively engaged in preservation efforts, research initiatives, and education.

Throughout my career, I have worked on complex genealogical cases, including lineage verification, Spanish citizenship research, and family reconstruction projects. My approach combines traditional research methods with modern tools to deliver accurate and meaningful results.

Whether you are just beginning your journey or expanding your family tree, my goal is to provide professional Puerto Rican genealogy services that bring your history to life.

Dedication to my Parents

Our parents are the unsung heroes behind every life and every accomplishment. Thank you for giving me life. I honor you and all of our ancestors, whose legacy continues through us.

Through my work in Puerto Rican genealogy, I have come to understand even more deeply how connected we truly are—not only to the past, but to one another. To my siblings, adopted siblings, step-parents, extended family, and friends: a part of me lives within you, just as a part of you lives within me.

We all carry the same ancestral blood, and we are who we are because of those who came before us.

I would not be the man I am today without each and every one of you. Thank you for supporting me on this journey—for listening, for sharing in my discoveries, and for spending countless hours as I explained what a third cousin six times removed is.

A special dedication to my father, who passed away on April 6, 2022. Genealogy—and especially my journey through Puerto Rican genealogy—brought us closer together, and for that, I will always be grateful.

Before contacting Hijos de Coamo Puerto Rico (HDCPR)

When you contact me, please provide details about a specific person. For example, if you are asking about a relative or need help researching one, please give enough information—for example, the full name of your ancestor. In addition, the year range, their hometown, parents’ and grandparents’ names. The more information you provide, the better. I have extensive research skills and help people find ancestors when they have no idea where they may originate. It comes naturally to me; I’ve successfully broken brick walls for many.
