    • I’m interested in some help with genealogical research

    • Henry J. Inman

I am very much interested in getting some help with my search. I just got back from PR after spending almost a month going to churches in Guayama, Ponce and cemeteries in Carolina, and the previous 2 cities. I’ve also gone to the Registro in Old San Juan. I’m trying to find out WHEN my great-grandfather arrived in Guayama and when he left! Sounds simple, but there are extenuating circumstances around his departure. His name is Silverio Paonessa and he emigrated from Calabria, Italy and eventually married in Guayama. Please let me know if you can help me. He was married in 1874 at the Catholic Church in Guayama and I have a record of that.

I am looking for my father’s birth certificate and my grandmother’s and great-grandparents. My father was born in Puerto Rico, and his mother and his grandparents were from Spain. Not sure if my grandmother was born in Puerto Rico or Spain.

I am looking into the possibility of moving to Spain and wanted to do research about my heritage in case I qualify for dual citizenship between the US and Spain.

    Thank you,
