My surname tree

How this website came about

Many of the research articles I write have a clear purpose; they provide historical content and correct erroneous genealogical trees.

My goal is two-fold. I want to share articles written over a hundred years ago about our island and its inhabitants. Knowing the history of your ancestor’s homeland may provide clues, thus making your research more accessible. In addition, they can provide additional information about where and how our ancestors lived. And if you are fortunate, you may find an article about your ancestor that I may have written. You will be surprised what is out there, hidden away. Hence why we need never stop our research.

Secondly, I am correcting the many unsourced, erroneous trees you find out there circulating for decades. How many times have you come across somewhere else’s tree that goes back to the 1300s and no sources? Frustrating, to say the least. What is more annoying is that these family trees have the wrong ancestors. This will lead many down the wrong path. So I decided to do something about it.

In all honesty, I grew tired of seeing so many genealogical trees out there with erroneous information. In fact, I was one of those individuals that fell into that trap. I copied what I saw before I knew how to document my findings. This was during my initial research. This quickly ceased when I saw that names, places, and dates did not match. How could my ancestor have a child at 80 years old? It didn’t make sense to me.

Never again!

That was a wake call for me. I knew from that moment on; I could not rely on what I saw. As a result, this website was born. My goal is to make sure that the information I provide is factual and backed up with unrefutable documentation. Therefore, please let me know if you read anything incorrect in any of my articles. I aim to be accurate, but we are all human. We all make mistakes. Or if you have additional information I may not have, please share it with me. I’ll add it to my article.

Tell me what you think, leave a comment please.
